I had the same issue in Android Studio 2.3.3 on Mac OS X 10.12.6 and the issue. Provided that you already have an Android emulator installed, you can run it from Visual Studio Code.
I would like to map through all the redux selectors (dataOne, dataTwo, dataThree etc.) using the titles from the config file. Emulator in Android Studio doesn't start. I'm not sure if that works with navigation but I couldn't find anything saying that it won't work. when you try to start an emulator in visual studio, you are effectively trying to start a virtual machine inside another virtual machine. So I wanted to put the navigation in a component and import that component into the screens that should show it. Issue why android emulator is failing to start for you is not with xamarin in this instance, but lies in a fact that you are already running a virtual machine on your mac (e.g. Open command palette Cmd-Shift-P -> Type Emulator. For example the registration and login screen shouldn't show the navigation. Just open up the Visual Studio Emulator for Android entry in your Start Menu, hit play, and the emulator is ready to debug from any IDE. I'm trying to make a RN-app, but I dont want to show the navigation on every screen.
