This was my first interview and everyone there made me feel relaxed and comfortable. It seems like a lot, but I kind of liked it because it went by fast and if you don't do so well on your first one, you have two more to make it up! The one question that I seem to keep getting, which I hate is "so, tell me about yourself." It's way too open-ended and I never know what to say. This could be considered bad ("scut work") but most of the people there consider it good because you get so much hands-on experience (you get to put PICC lines in babies!)Īlso, we had 3 mini-interviews (about 15 minutes each) with the program director, an attending, and the chief resident.

The downside, as the residents told us, is that if you're missing from a lecture, everyone knows it! For me, it's an advantage because you get to know everyone really well, and the attendings get to know you. This could be good or bad, depending on what type of person you are and what kind of program you are looking for.
